  • Mirabilis jalapa, or commonly known as Four O’Clock, is a tender perennial that produces an abundance of flowers all summer long. The plants can reach 18 – 36 inches in height and the same in width. The trumpet-shaped flowers are yellow and can be in clusters or single blooms, and they have a vanilla scent attracting hummingbirds.
  • Four O' Clock is a 18 - 36 inch tall climbing vine that grows as a perennial in USDA zones 8 - 10.
  • On sunny days, the flowers open in the late afternoon and wilt by the next morning. Bloom after bloom is produced all summer long to create a lovely yellow display.
  • Start Four O’Clock seed indoors 6 – 8 weeks before the last expected frost date. Press the seed into soil, cover it with ¼ inch of soil and keep the seed moist. With a temperature range of 65 - 75F, germination is usually in 14 days.
  • Sowing Rate: 1 pound per 1,000 square feet or 2 seeds per plant. Start Four O’Clock seed indoors 6 – 8 weeks before the last expected frost date.
