  • Perfect Substrate: Using it as a substrate soil, it has better water absorption, water retention, and fertilizer retention capacity than other substrate formulations. Diatomite rock helps more air to surround the roots which helps your plants remain healthy.
  • Fast Drainage: Diatomite rocks are perfect for succulents since it absorbs water but at the same time it quickly dries out. If you find it hard to keep up with watering or a consistent watering schedule, using diatomaceous earth as the soil for your succulents will help prevent over watering.
  • Natural: Diatomite rock is made from diatomaceous earth which is a naturally occurring compound made up of prehistoric diatomic fossils, non-toxic and Pet Safe. It is long-lasting and breaks down very slowly, so it is unlikely to significantly change your soil’s pH level. Its PH is around 8.
  • Widely Used: Many experienced succulent growers use diatomite rock liberally for both indoor potted succulents as well as for their outdoor plants. We highly recommend diatomaceous earth for houseplants of all kinds including cactus, bonsai trees, and other succulents.
  • Strong Adsorption: Diatomite rock has strong adsorption and ion exchange functions. It can slowly transport silicon and be absorbed by plant roots, thereby growing plants healthily. It can be used as top dressing or soil amendments.
